NORTHERN Irish construction company Graham has opened a north of England base in Manchester.

The company, which is based at Hillsborough in Northern Ireland, has opened its office at Peter House to serve both existing and new projects throughout the North and North Wales. The company recently completed a new £7m leisure centre in Oswestry and an £18m leisure project at Pier Parade in South Shields. It is also set to complete a £4m upgrade of Barnsley Town Hall later this month.

The company also offers asset management services and said that it is due to announce a major facilities management win in Manchester very soon. The company, which can trace its roots back to 1798, currently employs more than 1,200 people and last year declared a £4m profit on turnover of £218m.

Iain Loose, who will be head of business development at its construction arm in the North, said: “We are actively looking at all construction opportunities in northern England and Wales and see this territory as key to our growth plans.

Contracts director Gerry Rowe said: “With an ethos of being hands-on, we are extremely client focused and take pride in delivering our product with openness and dedication. We are looking to talk to developers, project managers and architects across the regions with a view to forging long term relationships.”
