North Wales contractor shuts up shop

ADMINISTRATORS appointed to Wrexham-based contractor Barnhill Construction have closed the business.
The company, which was set up 20 years ago by current chairman Rob Jones, specialised in carrying out contracts worth up to £5m across the North West and North Wales. It employed 35 staff and carried out civil engineering and maintenance contracts for a variety of blue-chip companies including NWF Group, Redrow, Kelloggs and Jacobs Engineering.
Matt Dunham and Les Ross from the Manchester office of Grant Thornton were appointed as administrators on April 3.
Mr Dunham said: “The business had ceased trading by the time we were appointed and unfortunately all 35 employees had been made redundant. Our role over the next few weeks is to realise the company’s debts.”
