Renold brings in new chairman

RENOLD has announced the appointment of Mark Harper as a non-executive director, with a view to taking over as chairman following the company’s AGM in July.

Mr Harper, who is a former chief executive of Filtrona and a non-executive director of BBA Aviation, is set to replace current chairman Matthew Peacock as part of a transition plan. Mr Peacock has been on the Renold board for five years and is planning to step down at the AGM.

Chain maker Renold’s senior independent director David Shearer has announced that he too plans to step down after completing more than five years on the company’s board, and Renold said that a replacement to find a successor is already underway.

Mr Peacock said: “We are delighted to welcome Mark Harper as a non-executive director, I look forward to him taking up the chairmanship shortly.

“I am pleased to be able to hand over to him at a time of rapid profits growth, having completed a turnaround of the business during a period of unusual economic difficulty.

“The breadth and depth of Mark’s industry experience makes him well suited to lead Renold over this next period in the company’s strategic development.”
