Hitchen to launch second Spinningfields restaurant

JAMES Hitchen is to open his second restaurant within Allied London’s Spinningfields development in Manchester.

Mr Hitchen already operates the Southern Eleven restaurant on the plaza level of 3 Hardman Square, and is set to open a new 200-cover restaurant called Neighbourhood at the foot of Tower 12.

Neighbourhood will be a New York-style restaurant which will open throughout the day in Tower 12 – the building formerly known as Manchester House. It has been based on restaurants like The Standard Grill and STK and designed by Cheshire-based Innex Design.

James Hitchen said:  “Following on the success of Southern Eleven at Spinningfields, I am thrilled to be opening Neighbourhood on Avenue North.  It’s my second venture, it will be a totally new dining experience for Manchester and I am looking forward to opening the doors later this year.”

Michael Ingall, chief executive of Allied London Properties, said:  “I am very pleased James has chosen Avenue North as the location for Neighbourhood. It will be an excellent asset to Spinningfields.”

Tower 12 comprises 75,000 sq ft of floor space, including 40,000 sq ft of office space over ten floors. Neighbourhood is one of 10 retail and leisure units sitting below the tower branded as Avenue North.

Mr Hitchen is the son of former Hitchens Foods director Bernard Hitchen – one of two brothers who sold the Hitchen Foods business to Icelandic food giant Bakkavor in a £44m deal in 2005. It sold prepared vegetables and salads to major food retailers.
