JD wins customer service plaudits

JD Sports, the Bury-based group, has been crowned ‘Most Improved UK Retailer’ in a recent Verdict Consumer Satisfaction Survey.
The survey takes place annually and analyses the responses of 6,000 consumers.
Barry Bown, chief executive of JD Sports Fashion said: “This is fantastic news for JD Sports, and serves to underline the focus we put into continually improving the offering we give to our customers.
“With new developments in the pipeline – including our Kingsway distribution facility soon to be coming online – we look forward to giving the British consumer even more to be happy about in the coming years.”
JD Sports Fashion also owns the Scotts, Bank, Size and Cecil Gee shop brands as well as its most recent addition – outdoor goods specialist Blacks, which it bought out of administration.
It has invested more than £20m in the last year in its new warehouse at Kingsway Business Park in Rochdale, a purpose-built, automated 616,000 sq ft facility.
Last month the company, which also has operations in France, Spain and Ireland, announced that annual turnover had passed £1bn for the first time in its history.
