Buyer sought for Carlisle hotel

A THREE-star, 53-bed hotel in Carlisle has been placed on the market for £850,000 after being placed into receivership.

The Cumbria Park Hotel on Scotland Road had been owned by the Lowther family for decades but Mark Ranson and Keith Anderson were appointed as joint administrative receivers of the company which owned and ran the property on May 2 by lenders Clydesdale Bank.

The administrative receivers laid off 5 of the 31 staff, but have retained the remainder and have appointed Colliers with a view to selling the business as a going concern.

Prior to the administrators’ appointment, the hotel had been on the market for £1.7m.
