Littlewoods breaks new ground with Facebook show

NORTH West home shopping group Shop Direct is to mount a pioneering social media push with its Littlewoods.com brand.
The Liverpool company and celebrity brand ambassadors, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, will broadcast a live and interactive TV format to customers for the first time via Facebook.
The first Littlewoods Live Facebook show will be on Wednesday June 13 at 9pm.
Shop direct is working with London agency dot.talent, a social media specialist, to produce the format.
The 60 minute programme will be hosted by Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and will showcase his new autumn/winter collection for Littlewoods.com.
He will discuss new home and living trends and interact with viewers through a live phone-in and via instant messaging.
The broadcast will also include four advert breaks, which will feature a variety of products from across the Littlewoods.com home and living and electrical ranges.
Gary Kibble, brand director for Littlewoods.com, said: “This is a UK retail first and is very much in line with our brand strategy to engage our customers by creating innovative social media content that brings our products vividly to life.
“Littlewoods.com already has a community of more than 113,000 fans on Facebook. We hope that this will become a way for us to connect regularly with as wide an audience as possible, enabling both existing and new customers to browse and shop with us via a new and exciting platform.”
Danny Spronz, founder and CEO of dot.talent, added: “This entertaining format allows highly effective measurement and enhanced interaction and demonstrates Littlewoods.com’s innovative approach to communicating directly with its audience through social media.”
Following the Littlewoods Live broadcast, Shop Direct Group, which owns Littlewoods.com, plans to explore the possibility of rolling out Facebook programming to its other shopping brands, including Very.co.uk and isme.com.
