Liverpool’s West Tower to be sold

A SALE of Liverpool’s landmark 40-storey West Tower development has been agreed, administrators Grant Thornton have revealed.

Les Ross of accountancy firm Grant Thornton, said: “We have agreed the sale of West Tower with an unnamed party and are awaiting the exchange of contracts.

“Given the complexity of the building, we expect the formalities to take several weeks but we are confident of completing a deal.”

Contracts have not been exchanged – hence Grant Thornton’s unwillingness to name the interested party.

The building, which is currently the tallest in the city centre, has been marketed by Jones Lang LaSalle for around £12.5m.

Grant Thornton was appointed as administrators to developer Mapfield Properties (part of the Beetham Organization). It collapsed in March 2011 owing more than £25.6m to secured lender Anglo Irish Bank.
