Steve Broomhead back at Warrington Council as interim CEO

STEVE Broomhead, the former chief executive of the North West Development Agency, is returning to Warrington Borough Council to take the top job there on an interim basis.
Mr Broomhead, who was chief executive of the council for more than five years between 1997 and 2003, is stepping into the role at the local authority next month when Diana Terris leaves for Barnsley Council after five years at Warrington.
Since leaving the NWDA, Mr Broomhead chairman of Warrington Wolves Rugby League Football Club, has taken on a number of roles including a professorship at Liverpool Hope University and chair of Chester Renaissance – a new board set up to guide regeneration in the city.
His Warrington return is for a six month period, subject to approval by the council on June 25.
Coun Terry O’Neill said: “We are pleased that Steven has accepted our offer of the position of interim chief executive. He will play a critical role over the next six months in helping to reshape the council in the light of huge financial pressures.
“Steven has an outstanding track record and shares our vision for putting the people of Warrington first so I have every confidence his considerable experience will stand him in good stead for this role.”
He will work four days a week and his pay will be based on a £120,000 full time salary.
