Lancaster engineer closes its doors

A LANCASTER-based engineering firm which made mineral and metal fibres for use in engineering products has ceased trading.

MC Resources, which was based in Lancaster, made insulating materials for turbines, silencers and industrial insulation. It was the sole producer of Lancaster GTB Gas Turbine Basalt mineral fibre, which is an acoustic filling for gas turbine exhaust silencers.

The company was owned by Andrew and Marguerite Clokey and had sales representatives in Australia and Italy. It ceased trading on 8 June and of all of its 36 employees were made redundant prior to the appointment of joint administrators Patrick Lannagan and Tracey Pye from the Manchester office of BDO.

Mr Lannagan said: “Unfortunately the economic climate, difficult trading conditions, and cash flow pressures significantly affected the business.

“The joint administrators are taking all necessary steps to maximise recoveries for the benefit of all creditors.”
