Neptune gains green light for £45m Baltic scheme

NEPTUNE Developments has gained planning approval for its £45m redevelopment of the Baltic Triangle site opposite the King’s Dock area.
The firm has brought forward a proposal to redevelop the stalled site, which has a part-built structure next to the Baltic Fleet pub following the collapse of former owner Windsor Developments (Liverpool), through its relationship with the site’s chargeholder, Barclays.
Neptune Developments’ managing director, Steve Parry, said: “This is an exciting scheme for us – one which will radically enhance this particular site with four new buildings and the improved public realm.
“We are aiming to make a hugely positive contribution to the overall regeneration of the city centre.”
The Neptune scheme has been designed by Liverpool architects Falconer Chester Hall.
Its director, Alastair Shepherd, said: “Our approach has been to marry the use of masonry, seen in nearby warehouses, with bright colours associated with Liverpool’s waterfront. The quality of the new public square is also a priority, in order to create an attractive destination for visitors and residents.”
Main contractor Balfour Beatty is due to start on site before the end of summer.
