Opus North strikes £1.4m land deal with Lidl

DEVELOPER Opus North has sold a 1.2-acre site in Runcorn to supermarket chain Lidl for £1.45m.

Opus, based in Ilkley, bought the site in 2010 and gained planning permission for the former Vestric site last year.

Lidl plans to begin construction work on the new 18,000 sq ft supermarket shortly and the store is expected to be open by the end of next year.

Meanwhile Opus has completed the enabling work at part of the site in West Lane earmarked for a new Ford dealership.

It has appointed Sivils Construction of Chesterfield to build the showrooms and offices for the 15,000 sq ft showroom, which is due for completion by December 2012.
