Cox Motor Group invests £3m

LANCASHIRE car dealership Cox Motor Group is undergoing a £3m expansion that will create at least 20 jobs.

The business operates in Preston, Lancaster, Blackpool and Kendal.

It has just opened a used car supermarket in Blackpool called Automart and is submitting plans to extend the Morecambe site to allow for a 16,000 sq ft bodyshop and a display space for 100 cars.

Plans are also afoot to extend the Preston operation.

Group managing director David Cox said: “We’ve had a very successful 12 years in the region and have grown steadily, customer satisfaction is really high and we are experiencing strong growth in almost every area.

“It’s obviously a huge commitment to invest so heavily, but it’s such a great business, and it’s the staff and customers that made my decision an easy one. We expect to increase our workforce and obviously further secure the future for our current employees.”

The group has also sold its Kendal Citroen dealership to John Wilding, who already sells Citroens in Morecambe.
