Shares & Markets launches on TheBusinessDesk

IN A MAJOR expansion of its website, TheBusinessDesk.com today becomes the first regional business media organisation in the UK to offer a constantly updated shares and markets service that’s completely free to readers.

The new Shares & Markets section of the site provides live prices and reports from the London Stock Exchange and other bourses around the world, including announcements, reports and regular market briefings throughout the day.

The main front page of the site now contains a scrolling stocks ticker giving constantly updated prices for all the main North West  companies, while the Shares & Markets section provides a level and depth of information never before seen on a regional website in the UK.

Company profiles are fully searchable, and contain trading graphs, historical data and links to major company-specific stories and reports.

Chris Barry, editor of TheBusinessDesk.com in the North West said: “Up-to-the-minute information is the lifeblood of any business, and this new platform puts more of that vital data at the fingertips of our readers.company data

“Our Shares & Markets section will become a major resource for everyone in business in the region. While readers can use it to find information about any listed company in the UK, and many beyond, we’ve concentrated on North West companies, or businesses with a significant presence in the region.

“The fortunes of our major businesses are a barometer of the wider regional and national economy, and this service will therefore be a boon to everyone from sole traders to SMEs, and professional advisers to the chief execs of major groups.”

Some of the new features include:
• Share price ticker showing regional FTSE 100, 250 and AIM stocks (15-mintue delay)
• At-a-glance market graphs for FTSE100, 250, AIM, small cap, AIM, plus Dow, Nasdaq, DAX and Nikkei
• FTSE updates – pre-opening, midday and closing reports
• Market updates – most traded, market movers, company statements
• North West risers and fallers
• Comprehensive company information pages , containing day trading and historical graphs, company fundamentals and recent news

Chris Barry added: “This is a major investment by TheBusinessDesk.com in the service we offer to readers, but access to this and the rest of our site remains completely free. We are committed to innovation and are always looking at new ways to serve our readers.

“Since launching in the region in September 2008, more than 20,000 people have registered to access the site and receive our email news bulletins – and that figure is growing daily. I hope this new feature – and others we have in the pipeline – will continue to delight our readers.”
