RMS revs up with Ford for battery launch

NORTH West product sourcing company RMS International has struck a deal with US automotive group Ford to launch batteries for domestic appliances.
The privately-owned £30m turnover Swindon company will exclusively package and distribute a complete range of ‘core’ size batteries throughout the UK, offering a quality product at a competitive price.
RMS managing director, Ryan Farber, said: “Our exclusive deal with Ford batteries means that we will be able to offer both retailers and end consumers a product that is high quality, with one of the world’s most recognised brand names.
“It’s a real coup for us, and is a sign of Ford’s belief in our strength in the marketplace and know how of the target audience and what works for them in terms of product and price.”
He said sales of own-label batteries had risen significantly over the past 12 months, with value sales increasing by 8.7% and volume sales up 16%.
“We feel there is a strong opportunity for us to enter this market, especially with such a well-respected and internationally recognised brand as Ford.”
