Salford City Reds face winding up order

ONE of Salford City Reds’ sponsors has issued a winding up petition against the club.

Cheshire management consultant Steuer Gregsson is behind the action against the Super League team.

Steuer Gregsson director Tim Isherwood – brought in by the club to prepare it for new investment – was unavailable for comment when contacted by TheBusinessDesk.com.

The club has been looking for finance for some time and chairman John Wilkinson said last month that details of new financial investment would be announced within days.

No one at the club could be reached for comment but a statement on its Facebook page said: “It is a very small amount of money involved and we’ve brought in experts to deal with it for us. That’s all we can say at this moment in time.”

The petition will be heard at Manchester District Registry on October 29. Steuer Gregsson is being represented by law firm JMW.
