Appointments: McNiven swaps Coutts for Cheviot; Evans joins DSG

DAVID McNiven, associate director with Coutts in Liverpool, has quit to join Cheviot Asset Management as investment director.

His appointment came as Cheviot, based in St Paul’s Square in the city’s commercial district, confirmed it was in merger talks with Quilter. The firm, which has £200m under management, opened in Liverpool last year.

Mr McNiven will work alongside Cheviot senior partner Simon Walker to target private clients and build the company’s relations with professional intermediaries.

The 43-year-old Scot from south Liverpool has been in the city since 1989 with some 25 years’ experience in banking across retail, financial planning and private wealth management. He has also previously worked at Royal Bank of Scotland.

Cheviot senior partner Simon Walker said: “David brings a good deal of experience beyond client investment activities. His appointment represents a real coup for the business.”

SIMON Evans, 41, has been appointed corporate business director with Liverpool-headquartered accountancy firm Duncan Sheard Glass (DSG).
 
He was previously a partner at Chantry Vellacott in London where he specialised in corporate audit. He also completed a period of voluntary work in Kenya in 2011, before returning to London as a consultant in Chantrey Vellacott’s corporate finance team.
 
Andrew Moss, partner at DSG, said: “The breadth and depth of Simon’s experience means he can manage the entire client spectrum and offer strategic advice to owner-managed, start-up enterprises and more mature companies.”
 
DSG provides a range of tax, audit, investments and pension advice, with offices in Liverpool, Southport and Ewloe.

PLANNING consultancy Indigo Planning has promoted Nick Fillingham to Nick Fillingham, Indigo Planningassociate director in its Manchester office.

Mr Fillingham, pictured, works with clients including Investec and Peel, and has recently been involved in Chatham Waters – Peel’s £650m redevelopment scheme for a 26 acre site at Chatham Docks.

Director, Bill Davidson, who leads the firm’s Manchester office said: “Over the last few years Nick’s work has been an important contributing factor to the success of a number of complex projects and high profile planning consents. This promotion is well-deserved recognition of both Nick’s commitment and his planning expertise.”

MANAGEMENT and property consultants, AA Projects, has made three senior appointments.

Neil Fyles joins as a director and Mark O’Reilly and Nick Elliot both as divisional directors. AA Projects, which has offices in Sale and Prescot, Liverpool, says the promotions reflects its recent growth.

Mr Fyles joins from Davis Langdon  where most recently he was head of the Liverpool office, Mark O’Reilly has joined from Stradia where he was director of sustainability and while Nick Elliot is a former technical director at Landmark Developments.

BRENDAN Donnelly, an asset recovery specialist, has joined Lambert Smith Hampton’s Manchester office from Eddisons.

PRESTON PR and marketing communications consultancy, Freshfield, has hired former broadcast journalist Gina Millson as a PR executive.

She was formerly news editor at UKRD’s Lancashire-based radio stations The Bee and 2br where she was assistant news editor.
