acdc lights up Export Week

A LANCASHIRE manufacturer’s success in international markets has earned it the accolade of Export Champion.

Barrowford-based acdc, designs and manufactures specialist LED lighting systems for prestige developments around the world.

Its international CV includes the Atlantis Palm Hotel in Dubai, Bitexco Financial Tower in Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam, Finninge Roundabout in Sweden and the GPO building in Sydney, Australia.

The company currently has an export turnover of £7.5m and hopes to grow this to over £10m next year.

It is one of five Lancashire firms hailed as one of the North West’s leading Export Champions by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) during Export Week.

UKTI North West hopes Export Champions will inspire new and novice exporters to grow their international trade by providing advice and support.

Regional director Clive Drinkwater will visit acdc today where he will tour the premises, meet its 100 staff, and explain more about the Export Champions programme.

He said: “A year ago I challenged the North West business community to work with us to find 1,000 new exporters this year and we are well on our way.   However, we are keen to harness the expertise and enthusiasm of the region’s many companies who are already successful exporters, and so I am delighted to be able to announce that acdc will be one of our new Export Champions.

“Our inaugural Export Champions are all businesses who will inspire and motivate those new to international trade, both by promoting the benefits of export via their own successes and by sharing knowledge and experience for the benefit of other firms in the North West.”

Other Lancashire companies selected as Export Champions are Flexcrete Technologies, Andrews Bowen, Colonial Gifts Limited and wallpaper manufacturer Graham & Brown.

Export Week, running from 12 – 16 November is part of a campaign led by Trade & Investment Minister Lord Green to increase the number of British exporters by a quarter, adding a potential £36bn to the economy.
