Property briefs: Parcelforce, Conlon Construction and Croft Goode Architects

ROYAL Mail subsidiary Parcelforce Worldwide has taken 96,950 sq ft at Walton Summit in Preston.
The deal, agreed with landlord Freshwater Property Management, will see Parcelforce relocate from its existing Preston depot to the South Ribble site, which is located close to the M61, M65 and M6 motorways.
It is the latest in a series of deals which Jones Lang LaSalle has acted on for the express delivery business, following the announcement of a £75m in expanding its UK depot network.
Earlier in the year, the firm’s industrial and logistics team purchased 15-acres at Revolution Park in Chorley where Parcelforce plans to create a new 120,000 sq ft regional distribution hub and last month it completed a 72,000 sq ft deal to relocate Parcelforce’s Liverpool depot.
JLL director Daniel Burn said: “While there are big challenges facing traditional retailers, strong growth in e-commerce is continuing to drive demand for strategically located distribution space.
“This is the fourth deal we’ve completed for Parcelforce in recent months and we’re continuing to support the business’ expansion plans in the North West.”

PRESTON’S Conlon Construction has secured a £1.4m contract to build a leisure centre at Prescot Community Centre.
The project was commissioned by Knowsley Council and will create a 5,400 sq ft centre with gym facilities, changing rooms and a coffee bar.
Conlon will also replace a full-size football pitch with seven all-weather, five-a-side pitches.
The firm’s Michael Conlon said: “The area is in much need of modern sports and fitness facilities and this development will add to the existing amenities for the benefit of local people.”

KIRKHAM-based Croft Goode Architects has designed 26 homes for New Fylde Housing Association on a former Traver Perkins yard.
The newly completed development includes a four-storey block of 20 two-bedroom apartments and six, three-bedroom semi-detached houses.
David Croft, a director at Croft Goode Architects, said: “The development has brought a prominent site in Kirkham town centre back into sustainable use, at the same time removing a structure that had a negative visual impact on the area.
“The development also demonstrates a commitment from New Fylde Housing Association to improving the level and quality of affordable housing in Kirkham, bringing direct benefits, not just to its tenants, but to the wider local community.”
