Liverpool Vision board step down

A BOARD of Liverpool’s great and good who have been running the economic development agency Liverpool Vision has been disbanded.

Vision’s board, which includes former Tesco chief executive Sir Terry Leahy and Jon Corner of the River motion Group, has been replaced by the Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC).

Mayor Joe Anderson’s office will now provide the overall strategy and direction to promote the city’s economy, and take responsibility for Liverpool Vision.

The board, which has eight private sector members and five from the public sector, came together for the last time for a dinner at Liverpool Town Hall.

Mayor Anderson said: “I would like to offer my appreciation and very great thanks to each and every member of the Liverpool Vision board both past and present for their dedication and enthusiasm and for the professional way they have helped to lead the economic strategy of the city.

“It is a clear case of what they could do for the city rather than what the city could do for them and they are a model for all. Led by chairman Mike Parker, everyone of the board has given up their own time willingly and without payment in the pursuit of helping to create a better future for Liverpool and its people and they have achieved a significant impact.”

The out-going Liverpool Vision board: Chairman – Mike Parker, former CEO at Dow Chemical Company and BNFL; Mayor Joe Anderson, David Bundred, chairman of Aerogistics; Jon Corner, chief executive of The Landing MediaCityUK and chairman of RiverMotion Group; Jeanette Kehoe-Perkinson, chief executive Just For People; John Kelly, partner, KPMG; Sir Terry Leahy, chief executive Tesco; Tim Slack, co-director Appreciating People; Tony Wilson, senior partner at Hill Dickinson; Cllr Malcolm Kennedy, cabinet member for Regeneration and Transport; Cllr Wendy Simon, cabinet member for Culture and Tourism; Cllr Nick Small, cabinet member for Employment and Skills; and Cllr Richard Kemp, leader of the opposition on Liverpool City Council.
