Liverpool cabbies embrace chip and pin

LIVERPOOL taxi firm, ComCab – formerly MerseyCabs – has introduced chip and pin payment systems in its 300 vehicles.

ComCab, the city’s largest black cab firm, said the equipment will accept credit and debit cards as well as Cabcharge account cards.

General manager Karen Long said: “This represents another major investment on our part and will bring another first to the taxi industry in Liverpool with every one of our 300 strong fleet able to accept credit and debit cards as well as Cabcharge account cards.

“ComCab Liverpool is proud to be the largest provider of licensed taxis services to businesses and organisations around Liverpool and this technology makes business travel and expense handling even easier.”

ComCab is owned by CityFleet Networks, a joint venture between Singapore-based ComfortDelGro Corporation and Cabcharge Australia, which acquired MerseyCabs in 2008.
