FT Finlay builds for the future

FAMILY-owned building, refurbishment and maintenance company, FT Finley, has revealed a leadership shake-up.
The reshuffle at the Stockport company sees founder Fred Finlay move from managing director to chairman and being replaced by his son, Jay, the former operations director.
Founded by Mr Finlay senior 36 years ago, the company has 80 staff and has turnover of more than £6m.
The management team has been bolstered by Diane Thompson, who has joined as assistant director of operations, after 19 years with First Choice Homes.
In her new role she will join Nick Finley, operations director, in developing and delivering a growth strategy. She will also be responsible for overseeing staff training and development.
Jay Finley said: “FT Finley is known for its strong family values and high quality, professional work and that’s not going to change. This approach has seen us expand rapidly but sustainably over the past few years, and we’ve secured a number of high profile framework appointments and contracts as a result.
“Looking to the future, we will continue to pursue strategic growth in the North West and further afield, focusing on the education, healthcare, commercial and retail sectors, as well as enhancing our presence in the social housing and public sectors.
“As part of this growth strategy, we will continue to invest heavily in our employees across the board, from apprentices to senior managers.”
Fred Finley added: “This is an exciting time for me personally as well as for the company. Since starting the business in the 1970s with my wife, Barbara, we have grown FT Finley from just a handful of employees.
“While I will take a step back from the day-to-day activity, I will be working closely with the senior management team to shape the business for the future.”
