STOBART’s chief executive Andrew Tinkler has gifted shares worth a total of £125,000 to various members of his family.

Mr Tinkler, who holds around 8% of the Warrington-based logistics group, has transferred 40,000 shares to his son Adam, 45,256 to his daughter Laura, and 40,000 to his partner Alison Schmutz.

At Friday’s price each share was worth around £1.

Mr Tinkler still holds around 28 million shares in the group which has a market value of £349m. In the six months to the end of August sales dipped 1% to £278.5m and pre-tax profits fell to £6.6m from £14.6m.

In recent years the group has moved into a number of areas, alongside its traditional logistics business, including flight services, renewable energy, property and law.

Last week the Irish competition authority approved Stobart’s bid to acquire sole control of Irish regional airline Aer Arann.
