Stockport’s Bray’s Fine Furniture closed down

A LONG-established family-owned furniture business in Stockport has closed down and been placed into liquidation.

Bray’s Fine Furniture operated from 80,000sq ft premises at Pear Mill in Bredbury, selling furniture and accessories for the home and garden. It closed its doors last month after suffering tough competition in the market place.

Paul Stanley a partner at insolvency firm Begbies Traynor in Manchester was appointed liquidator last month.

He said: “It is a really unfortunate situation for Bray’s, which has suffered in the last few years as more competition has entered the local area and shoppers have become ever more price-conscious and have taken to the Internet to shop around.

“Bray’s had traded for many years in Stockport , but has sadly suffered the same fate as many other famiy businesses in this sector.”
