Business Masters Awards 2013 to celebrate the region’s finest

THE best entrepreneurs and businesses in the North West will again be celebrated at TheBusinessDesk.com’s third annual Business Masters Awards which are launched today.

Last year’s winners included Betfred founder Fred Done, who took the North West Ambassador crown and North West industrial heavyweights WFEL and Oliver Valves.

The Masters awards will recognise success in innovation, international trade, manufacturing, social responsibility and leadership, while new business success will also be celebrated in the North West Newcomer award.

The lunch-time event, to be held on April 25 at the five-star Lowry Hotel in Salford, is a fresh alternative to other business awards events. With just six awards, the focus is on quality, not quantity, and also offers fantastic NW Masters Logo squarenetworking opportunities.

Confirmed sponsors for the 2013 Business Masters include law firm Weightmans and accountants and business advisers Baker Tilly.

The Masters award was the first of a clutch of business titles for Mr Done – he went on to be named Ernst & Young UK Master Entrepreneur 2012 at the national finals in London.

He said: “It was an honour to receive the Masters award last year.  The nomination list was impressive so to come out top was flattering to say the least.

“I’m proud of our achievements ,seeing the Betfred brand develop from a small shop in salford in 1967 to a successful international gaming company today is quite something. But personal recognition from the North West business community is something I will cherish.”

David Cornwell, managing director at Oliver Valves, said: “While we’re an international business the recognition of our success in the North West is incredibly important to us.

“The region is world-renowned for the quality of its manufacturing exports, so to be picked as one of the very best is a real honour which carries great weight beyond these borders.

Chris Barry, North West editor of TheBusinessDesk.com said: “Our Masters Awards is a great showcase of success in the region and I expect some really strong entries again this year.

“We aim to make the businesses the stars of the show through the awards as we feel it is so important to celebrate success in challenging times.”
