Administrators called in at furniture firm

AROUND 135 jobs are under threat in Ashton-under-Lyne after furniture maker Olympia fell into administration.

The business makes sofas and suites for large retailers such as Argos.

The firm was rescued two years ago by London-based SKG Capital after it was hit by the loss of an IKEA contract.

Around 100 jobs have been cut since then, and administrators from FRP Advisory were called in after SKG failed to find a buyer.

The administrators are trading the business and looking for a buyer.

SKG bought Olympia from German company Himolla Postermobel for an undisclosed sum.
