Irish opportunities beckon for export novices

MORE than 60 North West businesses are taking part in a trade mission to Dublin – part of UK Trade and Investment’s drive to encourage 1,000 new exporters from the region this year.

The Market Insight visit, which leaves tomorrow, features companies from across a wide range of sectors, from food production to cloud computing, architecture to PR.

The two-day trip features a number of informative sessions on the opportunities in the Irish market  by UKTI staff and the British Ambassador to Ireland, Dominick Chilcott.

On Tuesday night there is a tour and a dinner at the famous Jameson Whiskey Distillery, while on Wednesday there will be a store visits for the food and drink suppliers, plus sessions from professional advisers on the legal and accounting aspects of exporting to Ireland.

UKTI, which is subsidising the trip, says Ireland is the ideal location for novice exporters due to the extremely close cultural links and common language between the two countries, not to mention its close proximity.
