In Brief: JV in India, says Clearwater; VUE launches new system

NORTH West manufacturers should consider joint ventures with Indian counterparts to gain a foothold in Asian markets, according to Clearwater Corporate Finance.

Two Clearwater partners have just returned from a visit to India, where they found significant interest in the UK.

Constantine Biller, industrials partner at Clearwater Corporate Finance, said: “India offers staggering opportunities to UK firms looking to grow.”

He added: “For those looking to enter the Indian market, a joint venture offers huge potential. It can provide a ready-made manufacturing site and invaluable knowledge of the local market, which is a massive benefit. The quid pro quo, though, is that Indian businesses will expect some technology transfer and the end game may in fact be an acquisition.”

Clearwater’s Indian visit was held in conjunction with India-based corporate finance adviser o3 Capital. Both firms are partners of IMAP, the global partnership of leading M&A and corporate finance firms.

MANCHESTER CCTV firm has launched a new system aimed at reducing accidents and fraudulent personal injury claims for UK fleets.

VUE CCTV, based in Trafford Park, has developed new in-vehicle recording system capable of streaming live video over the mobile network.

VUE’s VDR 3G system has a built-in tracking function which simultaneously displays the vehicle’s live position alongside live video images.

It is being targeted at owners of fleets where transmission of images is essential, such as security vehicles and the waste industry, and also those looking to counter fraudulent accident and personal injury claims.

Glen Mullins, director of VUE, said: “Many of the commercial transport managers who have installed our existing VDR system find it invaluable in contesting fraudulent and non-fault accident claims, which can have a devastating effect on drivers.

“Now that we have added the live 3G video functionality, vehicle activity can also be viewed remotely in real time on mobile devices. We are finding this particularly appealing to high security fleet owners, such as money transportation and the waste sector, with its stringent regulations.”
