UNIVERSAL POINT, the warehouse once operated by the Manchester-based kitchens, bathroom and bedrooms firm Homeform, has been sold for around £5m.

The 170,000 sq ft site on 10 acres off Chester Road, Old Trafford, has been bought Klyne and Klyne, a Manchester based supplier of branded goods to retailers and wholesalers.

Homeform went into administration in July 2011. The value of the sale was not disclosed but the building had a guide price of £4.9m.

Agent Steve Johnson of B8 Real Estate said: “Universal Point represented a rare opportunity for an occupier to consolidate a number of operations on a self-contained, high profile site and after receiving an encouraging interest from investors and owner occupiers we were delighted to conclude a transaction with Klyne & Klyne.”

Sammy Klyne of Klyne & Klyne said: “We are delighted to have purchased Universal Point, with the assistance of OBI Property, which will become the new headquarters for our group of companies, Klyne & Klyne, Rothwell Industries, Stanley Tapes and Adhesives, Kiddu, Scruffs and particularly our e-commerce platform brooklyntrading.co.uk.

“We have required new centrally located premises for over 12 months due to expansion of the businesses and Universal Point offers us a well located client facing facility to suit all of the companies’ needs.”

OBI Property represented Klyne & Klyne with B8 Real Estate and Jones Lang LaSalle acting jointly on behalf of fixed charged receivers.
