ANS picks up University of Cumbria contract

MANCHESTER-based IT group ANS has won a multi-million pound contract to develop the University of Cumbria’s cloud computing infrastructure.

The win, which followed a 20-way tender process, will see ANS implement an IT network supporting 1,100 staff and 12,000 students over 10 locations.

The value of the deal was not disclosed.

The firm said it would reduce operational costs and cut IT management time for the university, which is based in Carlisle.

Managing director Paul Sweeney said: “The university, by its nature, has to adopt a complex and vast IT network and we’re keen to navigate its IT landscape and provide a service which will help provide a noticeable difference to the university’s staff and students.”

Colin Coghill, director of IT Services at the university, said: “ANS demonstrated a clear strategy of how their flexible IT structure for the university would meet our current and expected future needs.”
