Promethean World wins US schools contract

BLACKBURN-based interactive whiteboard manufacturer Promethean World has announced that it has won a contract to supply 3,000 of its Activboard+2 to schools in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the United States of America.

The company said that the purchaser, Albuquerque Public Schools, has also bought more than 200 sets of its learner response systems, Activote and Activexpression.

Promethean World has already begun installing 550 interactive display systems and will fit the remainder over the next two years. The project is being financed from the District’s capital projects account, which raised a $616 million bond earlier this year.

Promethean World’s CEO Jean-Yves Charlier said: “We are delighted with this contract win and understand that Albuquerque’s decision to choose Promethean was based on the quality and educational focus of our integrated ActivClassroom offering.

“This project has been funded through a local bond raised specifically for capital and technology projects.  Approved by local voters, this illustrates the extent to which education authorities, schools and parents want this type of technology and recognise the significant benefits it brings to the classroom.”
