LAW firm Slater & Gordon has acquired Goodmans Law in Liverpool as part of a trio of deals valued at £22.8m.

As well as personal injury specialist Goodmans, which has 50 staff, it has bought Leeds-based Simpson Millar, which has 10 offices including one in Manchester, and Taylor Vinters in Cambridge.

It is funding the deals with a £38m fundraising.

Slater & Gordon, listed on the Australian stock market, said the move would enable it to take a share of the UK consumer legal services market where there is “no dominant law firm brand”.

It will also give the firm future growth in a market that’s four to five time the size of the Australian market.

Slater & Gordon expects annual revenue from the three of £23m-£26m, with £15.7m-£17.6m coming from Simpson Millar. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation are expected to come in at £5.2m-£6.5m.

The firm entered the UK market last year with the acquisition of Russell Jones & Walker, the London-based personal injury and employment law specialist, for £53.8m. Through that deal it picked up an office in Manchester.
