Jobs threat as Burnley plastics firm hit buffers

AN East Lancashire manufacturing business employing nearly 40 people has been placed into administration after a downturn in sales.

Administrators from the Manchester office of BDO are looking to sell Burnley firm Industrial Anti-Corrosives as a going concern, but warn that redundancies are possible.

BDO restructuring partners, Kerry Bailey and Jon Newell, were appointed to the family-owned firm based at Dunnock Shaw on May 22.

The company, is a plastics processing and machining business and has been trading since 1978. So far all employees have been retained.

Kerry Bailey, said: “Unfortunately the economic climate and difficult trading conditions have significantly affected the business. Though the company has a good customer base, in recent months it has not been possible to generate the necessary volume to make the business viable.

“However, the business has a sound reputation and strong order book. Our objective is to sell the company as a going concern and it will continue to trade whilst the options are explored.”
