High Voltage atmosphere at Salford Business Awards

KINGSLAND Wines and High Voltage Partial Discharge (HVPD) were the big winners at last night’s Salford Business Awards.

HVPD has developed systems which test for faults and the deterioration of electrical equipment while Kingsland supplies wines and spirits to major supermarkets and other retailers.

Kingsland won the green award and was named large business of the year. HVPD picked up small business of the year, the innovation prize and the international trade accolade.

Other winners included Yippee Entertainment, JMC IT and Aequita Legal. The event, hosted by journalist Elaine Wilcox at the Salford City Stadium, was attended by 350 guests.

Paul Wainwright, chair of organiser The Business Group, said: “We are extremely proud of all our finalists and their vital contribution to the local economy. It is encouraging to see so many new entrants this year – suggesting that Salford continues to be regarded as an attractive place to do business.  We have no doubt, given the calibre of applications we have received for this year’s awards, that the future of business in Salford is bright.”

Salford mayor Ian Stewart said: “Salford’s businesses are some of the most innovative and successful in Britain. It is fantastic to have the opportunity to celebrate their achievements.”
