Salford Uni doubles planned student numbers at MediaCity

THE UNIVERSITY of Salford is to more than double the number of student places it is planning to offer at its MediaCity campus when it opens for the 2011/12 academic year.

The university had previously indicated that around 700 studends would be taught at its MediaCity campus but has now increased this number to more than 1,500.

It also said that it would offer a total of 39 courses at the site, including new courses such as MAs in Digital Performance and Cinema Distribution and Exhibitions as well as an MSC in Media Management.

The university said that the facility would give students the opportunity to “gain experience of working in a realistic industry environment”.

“The courses which we’ll be teaching at MediaCityUK will give Salford students an experience like no other,” said University of Salford Vice-Chancellor, Professor Martin Hall.

“World class facilities and a huge industry hub on the doorstep mean that students on these courses will have the best possible start to their careers in media.”
