Stock Exchange launch for Liverpool’s Accelerate 2013

LIVERPOOL mayor Joe Anderson opened trading at the London Stock Exchange yesterday to promote Liverpool’s Accelerate 2013, an event for high growth businesses later this month.

The event on June 27, a pre-cursor to the International Festival for Business 2014 – also being hosted in Liverpool – will bring together more than 1,000 entrepreneurs and business owners from across the UK.

RBS and its sister company wealth manager Coutts have signed as sponsors and speakers include Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales and Lastminute.com co-founder Baroness Lane-Fox of Soho.

Mayor Anderson said: “The city of Liverpool is proud to be hosting Accelerate 2013, which will be a showcase of all that is great about British business. The London countdown highlights the fantastic support from the capital and illustrates huge national appetite for a festival of this kind.”

Max Steinberg, chief executive of the city’s economic development company Liverpool Vision, added: “London Stock Exchange is the beating heart of British business, and the ideal setting to begin the countdown to Accelerate 2013. We very much welcome the support of such an influential business organisation.”
