Metronet scores £500k City West deal

NORTH West internet service provider Metronet (UK) has won a £500,000 contract with social housing provider City West Housing Trust.

The Manchester company, backed by private equity firm LDC uses wired and wireless technology to offer reliable and quick connections, will supply City West offices based in Eccles, Swinton, Irlam and Little Hulton.

City West, a not-for-profit organisation, is responsible for 14,600 homes in the west Salford area. The deal with Metronet will mean its offices will benefit from speeds of 100Mbps to 1Gbps.

Manchester Science Park-based Metronet (UK) already provides services to 30 housing associations across the North West, including Trafford Housing Trust and Mosscare Housing.

City West’s assistant director of ICT, Martin Barber said “Following our move to a state of the art co-location data centre near MediaCity, we needed a reliable, forward thinking proactive partner to supply high quality data links and through our procurement process Metronet (UK) blew away the competition.”

Metronet  public sector manager, Kate Rennicks said: “This new partnership will mean great things for both ourselves and City West, and I look forward to our future of working together.”
