Envelope deal is sealed

BURY company Tower Suppliers has merged with Yorkshire rival SCR Envelopes.

Tower Supplies, which was bought in 2007 by De Vroede, Europe’s largest specialist envelope printing company, will now produce more than 500 million envelopes a year and have a £10m turnover.

In total the enlarged business will have a workforce of 60 staff.

Hans Lambrechts, financial and commercial director at De Vroede, said: “The De Vroede Group has expertise across Europe and the merger between SCR and Tower in the UK gives us an increased presence in the market.”

Steve Allott, managing director of Leeds-based SCR Envelopes, said: “SCR and Tower have similar objectives, business values, target markets and expertise, so a merger made economic and commercial sense.

“The merger strengthens our position in the marketplace and will enable us to expand our innovative, cost effective solutions, while delivering an even higher level of quality and customer service.”
