Appointments: Weightmans lures ex-Cobbetts man; BDP & more

LAW firm Weightmans has expand boosted its Manchester corporate team with the arrival of former Cobbetts/DWF partner, Robert Turnbul.

Paul Raftery partner and head of Weightmans’ corporate and commercial department said: “Robert is an experienced corporate finance lawyer with a long track record in Manchester combined with a magic circle pedigree.

“He is a fantastic addition to the firm and brings with him a significant client portfolio and a breadth of knowledge and expertise. We are delighted to have him on board.”

Mr Turnbull added: “I am thrilled to join Weightmans – it is a firm with great strength and ambition and has a fantastic reputation in the region and nationally for its corporate work. I am looking forward to using my experience to add to its success.”

Last week he advised the management team of executive recruitment firm Armstrong Craven on its MBO backed by Isis Equity Partners.

ARCHITECTURAL firm BDP has appointed Manchester-based Francis Glare to visiting chair of its studio in New Delhi, India.

A main board director, Glare is BDP’s head of urbanism. BDP founded its studio in India in 2010, and he will take over from the former chairman Shaym Khandekar, who has retired. The studio is working on 17 live projects in more than 10 locations across the country.
 
Projects being delivered by BDP include a university campus at Mandi for the India Institute of Technology, in the foothills of the Himalaya, and a masterplan for an Edu-Health and Conference development in Kerala.

AQUARIUM Software has appointed Andrew Sherwin as operations director.

Mr Sherwin joins the Hale, Greater Manchester company in the newly-created role having previously worked for Landscape Legal and before that Quill Pinpoint.

Aquarium managing director Ed Shropshire said: “Andrew’s experience and expertise will be invaluable in ensuring that our software makes further inroads into the legal and professional services sectors, where we have already made great strides.”
