easyJet extends deal with Liverpool John Lennon Airport

BUDGET easyJet and Liverpool John Lennon Airport have agreed a new nine-year deal to support the airline’s growth there.
easyJet also announced that it is starting a winter sun route from Liverpool to Larnaca in Cyprus, beginning in November.
The airline, which this week launched new flights to Newquay and Nantes, says the new contract with JLA will enable it to look at new route opportunities. The airline current serves around 30 destinations from Liverpool and is one of its largest customers.
Matthew Thomas, chief executive of Liverpool John Lennon Airport commented, “The airport has worked in partnership with easyjet for over 15 years and we have seen both our businesses expand dramatically during this time.
“This latest agreement shows their continued commitment towards sustaining and growing their business here at Liverpool and we look forward to seeing more easyJet passengers and destinations over the next nine years and beyond.”
Ali Gayward, commercial manager at easyJet, said: “Liverpool was one of easyJet’s original bases and remains one of our largest bases in Europe.
“We are pleased to have secured a new agreement with John Lennon Airport which outlines our long term commitment to Liverpool and allows easyJet to add exciting new destinations such as Larnaca.”
easyJet launched its first flights from Liverpool in 1997 and in its first full year of operation it carried almost 140,000 passengers on flights from and to Liverpool. Last year the airline carried more than 2.4 million passengers.
