Property briefs: Aldi, LivingCity, and more

THE planning team at Jones Lang LaSalle has secured a hat trick of consents for Aldi that will see the delivery of more than 44,000 sq ft of retail space in Chester, Merseyside and Shropshire.

Aldi will anchor a 26,738 sq ft mixed-use redevelopment at the site of a former Focus DIY retail scheme in Boughton, Chester.

JLL also secured approval for a 16,361 sq ft Aldi store on Clockface Road, St Helens, on a derelict site which was once occupied by a former Kwik Save.

In Madeley, Shropshire, Aldi has gained consent for a 15,274 sq ft store which will anchor a wider mixed use scheme.

Joanna Gabrilatsou, associate director at Jones Lang LaSalle, said: “Each of these new stores will be at the heart of their local communities and provide a catalyst to regenerate formerly disused areas of land or abandoned buildings.

“While main areas of retail are struggling, Aldi are delivering new stores in both high street and out of town locations which complement existing local facilities and provide a draw to bring footfall back into neglected areas.”
