5 Plus moves into The Hive

5 Plus Architects has taken an office on the fourth floor of The Hive in Manchester, a building which it designed.

The firm is moving from John Dalton Street after taking 4,200 sq ft on a 10-year lease at the Lever Street building.

Director Jon Matthews said: “Last year we expanded with a new office in London and as our business continues to grow in Manchester there is only one building we could occupy – The Hive. Not only a building we designed but an exemplar of sustainability in the coolest part of Manchester. We cannot wait to move in.”

Angela Fielding, project director for landlord Argent, said: “It’s excellent to welcome 5 Plus Architects to The Hive, there’s no better compliment to a building than to have its designers actually move into it.

“There’s a lot to look forward to at The Hive over the coming months, we’ll be officially launching our arcade in conjunction with the newly opened Pie & Ale on the ground floor this summer, and we have plenty of interest in the remaining office space.”

5 Plus Architects, who were represented by Knight Frank. Edwards and Co acted for Argent and its joint venture partner Manchester City Council.

The Hive is the only Grade A office building in the Northern Quarter. Tenants include: Fatsoma, Spacemen Creative, Bakerie Wine Store, Pie & Ale, Manchester Food and Drink Festival, Ashurst Communications, the Arts Council and the Studio events space.
