HIMOR submits plans for 880 Crewe homes

HIMOR has submitted plans for a 880-home garden suburb on agricultural land to the south of Crewe.
The Newton-le-Willows developer has put forward the Gresty Oaks scheme as a response to a draft town strategy Crewe prepared by Cheshire East Council which anticipates demand for a further 3,300 houses.
The £51m project would occupy land between Rope Lane and Crewe Road. HIMOR does not own the site but has agreements to promote the land on behalf of landowners.
Samuel Stafford, associate director at HIMOR, said: “Gresty Oaks adjoins the urban area and is well related to both Crewe town centre and the Basford employment sites, and the garden suburb concept means that Gresty Oaks can be an attractive development that sits comfortably within the landscape.”
The designs, drawn up by Macclesfield-based e*SCAPE Urbanists, include a district centre and community facilities within a framework of ponds, hedgerows, trees and woodlands.
HIMOR, owned by Will Ainscough and his father Bill, who is also the chairman and owner of Langtree and Wainhomes, has similar plans for Standish, near Wigan.
