PureGym in North West expansion

GYM operator PureGym said it will open 24 new sites including seven in the North West.
 
It said it has a £50m “war chest” following its May acquisition by CCMP Capital Advisors.

It has bought five sites in Manchester, two in Liverpool, six in London and two each in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Leeds and five more in “key provincial locations”.
 
Peter Roberts, founder and chief executive, said: “We are delighted to have acquired a further 24 sites. In addition we plan to open a further 20 gyms throughout the UK by the end of 2014.

“With an equity base of £135m and a profitable and thriving business Pure Gym offers the best covenant to landlords in our sector.”
 
Founded in 2009, Leeds-based Pure Gym has over 50 locations and more than 260,000 members.
