NW Fund invests in Regent Recruitment

A MANCHESTER business which recruits chefs for top restaurants has taken an equity investment from The North West Fund for Venture Capital, managed by Enterprise Ventures.
Regent Recruitment, which also has an office in London, said it plans to use the cash to invest in marketing and infrastructure and build its client base. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
As part of the deal Sue Craven – who built, sold and recently bought back search firm Armstrong Craven – has joined the business as a non-executive director.
Regent was established in 1997 by Veena Hira and now supplies restaurants such as The Savoy, The Ritz, The Dorchester, St James’s Club, Pollen Street Social and Rex Restaurants, which operates The Wolseley and The Delaunay. It also works with international names such as the Burj Al-Arab in Dubai and the Taj Group in India.
She said: “We aim to supply more of the high profile restaurants and hotels Manchester now sees emerging including Simon Rogan at The Midland and Aiden Byrne at Manchester House. The years of knowledge and experience we’ve accumulated will soon catapult us to where we should be, serving the best with the best by sourcing people with passion.”
Richard Young of Enterprise Ventures said: “Regent Recruitment has built great brand loyalty in its specialist field and has a deep network of contacts. We share Veena’s excitement about the opportunity to grow the business, both in the UK and internationally.”
The North West Fund for Venture Capital is part of The £155m North West Fund, which is financed jointly by the European regional Development Fund and the European Investment Bank.
