Trendsetter’s investment pledge as profits jump

PROFITS at Trendsetter Home Furnishings, the bedding manufacturer and supplier, saw sales and profit growth last year.

Managing director Claire Watkin said the growth in profits from £636,304 to £1.01m in the year to the end of January, was a pleasing achievement and would help the family-owned company re-invest in new product and manufacturing efficiency.

Turnover at Trendsetter, which owns the Fine Bedding Company brand which is sold nationwide through independent retailers and department stores, rose from £13.7m to £16.3m.

Based in Trafford Park the company has around 30 staff in sales, marketing and finance in the UK and 70 employees in its manufacturing subsidiary in Estonia, Baltic Fibres.

Claire Watkin told TheBusinessDesk.com: “We have grown 6% over the last three years and it has been the result of a lot of hard work and investment.

“The profit we do make is invested back into the business, be it in new machinery to increase production capacity or into upgrade the quality of our products.

“I am pleased with our growth in profits it’s really important that we can put nthat money back in for the future.”

She said the current year would be “more static” as the business continues to invest. Central to this is a major relaunch in September of the Fine Bedding Company.

“We have a fresh new logo, and look  and the packaging is more customer friendly – it’s going into stores in September. It is really important that the market gets fresh concepts.”
