Debt manager Smooth Financial folds

SALE-based debt management firm Smooth Financial Consultants has collapsed.

Administrators from the Manchester accountancy firm Royce Peeling Green were appointed to the business at the start of the month.

In a statement they said the company’s clients had been taken on by the Surrey-based Money Expert Group which has an operation in Wigan.

Smooth Financial is owned by the Smooth Investment Group whose largest shareholder is Mark Broadstock. He could not be reached for comment as all calls to the company’s office in Sale are now being redirected to Money Expert.

A message on Smooth Financial’s website said: “A B Coleman and R M Withinshaw of Royce Peeling Green were appointed joint administrators of the company on August 2. We are currently formulating our proposals which will be sent to all creditors in due course and, if appropriate, details of creditors meeting. We have appointed the Money Expert Group to take over responsibility for managing your debt management plan.”

No one at Royce Peeling was willing to discuss the case.
