Body etailer off to a flying start

AN e-tailer selling health, beauty and sports equipment is celebrating hitting £500,000 of sales 11 months after launching.
Set up by business partners Lauence Newman and Andrew Showman, Bolton-based www.currentbody.com sells a wide range of products from skin cleansing gadgets to back massagers and electrical devices for bodybuilders to stimulate their muscles.
Mr Newman’s background is in healthcare supplies with a business called Medical Innovations, while Mr Showman founded internat retailer UK Digital Camera eight years ago.
The pair launched currentbody.com after realising there was no bespoke site offering consumers technology to help them look and feel better.
Laurence Newman said: “I have supplied products to the medical and beauty industry for more than 15 years and pride myself on being at the forefront of this constantly evolving market.
“The expectations of those wanting to look after their health, fitness and appearance is growing dramatically and our increasing turnover is testament to this.
“When compared to the price of individual spa treatments and personal training sessions, bringing the equipment into your home is a cost-effective solution for many.”
The website allowes customers to access online demonstrations and have their health, beauty, fitness and sports queries answered by an expert CurrentBody panel.
Mr Showman added: “Our customers are paramount in all we do and we want to ensure they make appropriate product choices.
“Etailers have to provide the services a high street shopper enjoys, such as talking to someone from the store, in order to be a viable competitor. That’s why we offer online demos as well as live chat so customers can speak to us before purchasing.”
