Communicate Better buys ConvergeOne

SALFORD communications firm Communicate Better has acquired the telecoms and IT services firm ConvergeOne which is also based in the city.

It is its third deal this year, following the July purchase of Hull-based TTS Communications and a deal for Leyland IT firm SCT Systems in February as it looks to double turnover to £8m.

ConvergeOne has been sold by Ryan McKnight, Ian Warburton, Mark Johnson and Tony Beddows. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

Communicate Better, which was set up in 1993, sells landline and mobile services to business, as well as IT hosting and vehicle tracking.

The company said the deal would give existing customers more products and enhance its cloud computing services. It will give Communicate Better a further 20 staff, taking the total to 60.

Chief executive Wayne Cartwright said: “We are very pleased to have been able to complete the acquisition of ConvergeOne, which will help us achieve a turnover of around £8m this financial year, a target we set for ourselves at the beginning of the year.

“I am really excited about the opportunity the purchase provides for us to improve our cloud offering. I believe it has accelerated our development by around two years and also offers a significant opportunity for cross sales. We have no plans for further acquisitions in the remainder of the year and shall spend our time consolidating the business and ensuring continued customer service for all of our customers. However, needless to say, we are now looking for larger premises within the region to accommodate our growing team.”

The company was advised by Keith Kennedy of Berg Solicitors in Manchester.
