Manufacturers make up a third of business travellers, says survey

SOME 35% of business travellers to Manchester earlier in the summer were from manufacturing corporations, according to new research.

The business traveller survey conducted by Deloitte, Manchester Airports Group (MAG) and inward investment body MIDAS quizzed 250 people arriving at Manchester Airport in May and June.

It found that healthcare and life science industries make up 11% of visitors and 8% were from telecommunications, media and technology firms.

Jo Ahmed, global employer services at Deloitte in the North West, said: “The North West is a hotbed of manufacturing expertise. We have a fantastic and long-standing track record in the sector and it is extremely encouraging that activity in the region and links with overseas is high.

“We are seeing a real convergence of medical and creative sectors in the region too, which is leading to some really exciting product development, carving the region’s reputation as a frontrunner in the digital health space.”

Deloitte, MAG and MIDAS complete the business traveller survey every six months.
